No. Tracker blocking, ad blocking, anti-fingerprinting, and Norton phishing protection are all on from the first launch. The VPN can connect on public Wi-Fi, incognito, banking, health, and streaming sites. You choose which of those are on.

Yes. On first launch Neo offers to import bookmarks, saved passwords, history, and open tabs from any browser installed on your machine. It takes about a minute.

Links from email, chat, and documents open with full protection instead of falling back to an unprotected browser. It also lets Neo scan links for phishing before the page loads, and unlocks unlimited VPN usage instead of the 5 GB monthly allowance.

Sync is optional. To use it, continue with Google using Gmail, create a Neo account with a username and password, or sign in with your Norton account. Sign in with Apple is also available on mobile. Choose what follows you, including bookmarks, saved passwords, open tabs, chat history, and more, at neo://settings/syncSetup/advanced.

All synced data is stored encrypted. For extra privacy, create a custom sync passphrase: a separate secret only you know that adds another layer of encryption. You will need it on each new device, and Neo cannot recover it, so keep it safe.

Before you start, sync or export anything you want to keep. Removing profile data permanently deletes local bookmarks, passwords, history, settings, and chats that have not been saved elsewhere.

There are three ways to start a chat. Type anything into the Magic Page input and select Chat from the suggestions, or do the same from the address bar. You can also select the Neo Chat button at the top right of the browser to open a dedicated chat interface that can use the full page as context. You control what page content the chat can see.

Yes. Reference any open tab with @ and Neo reads it as context. You can compare two tabs, summarize a long article, or pull the key terms out of a contract.

Neo checks links with Norton Web Shield and can block phishing or malicious destinations before you land on them. In webmail, Norton's Scam Analyzer looks at the message itself and flags the ones trying to get your details.

Select the shield in the address bar. The panel names the site, counts the ads and trackers blocked on it, and gives that site its own switches: block ads and trackers, anti-fingerprinting, and "Forget me when I close this site", which clears what the site left behind when you leave. Under those are the controls that apply everywhere, hiding cookie banners and secure connection, plus a way through to safe browsing and VPN settings.

Only if you turn on tab archiving. You can archive automatically, ask on the first archive, ask every time, or leave it off. How often unused tabs are archived, and how long they stay in the archive, is up to you. Find them again in tab search; after the keep period they are removed from the archive and remain in browsing history.

Yes. Universal Search covers your full history, so you can find a page by describing what it was about rather than recalling the exact title or URL.
